Do you only work with people over 50?

No not at all. I'm interested in everyone from 18 to 80! The sooner you can get some exercise into your daily life the better. We start losing muscle mass in our thirties and forties but this can be slowed by exercise. This is also an important time to keep your bones strong with weight-bearing exercise and guard against osteoporosis in later life.

So why 'Older Wiser Fitter'?

I've had to start coming to terms with getting older - I can't run as fast as I used to and it takes me longer to recover - but I've learned a lot about exercise and ageing and know that it's never too late to start and that however old you are you can improve strength and fitness.

My knees are bad and I can't run. How can I keep fit?

Anything that raises your heart rate is good - brisk walking, swimming, cycling, dancing. What's important is finding the right mix of activities for you so that you want to keep doing them.

Will I need any equipment?

There are lots of effective exercises you can do just using your own body weight. I have some portable equipment that you can try and then buy if you find it useful.

I'd really like some help but I can't afford many sessions. What are my options?

You can choose how often we meet for a session. After the free consultation, if you decide to go ahead, I will write you a plan and take you through it at the first session. After that we can meet as often as you like - weekly, fortnightly, monthly - whatever suits you and your budget. Our sessions together will keep you motivated until the next time and give me a chance to make changes to your programme.

I just want to improve my running. Can you help?

Yes. I can coach you at any distance from 5k to the marathon. I have run 7 marathons and regularly take part in 10k and half marathon races. As well as one-to-one sessions, I lead groups which you are welcome to join (see below).
